Okunoshima is located about 3 kilometers south of Tadami Town, Takehara City, Hiroshima Prefecture. This small island, about 4 kilometers in circumference, was a top-secret solitary island during World War II, and the local residents kept their mouths shut, and it was a poison gas island that was even erased from the map of Japan. ``Okunoshima: Narratives of Mobilized Students'' is based on the author's own experience of the unknown war of teenage girls who were mobilized to mobilize students, and focuses on the daily lives of children during the war. This book contains two stories, ``Children's Pacific War,'' which depicts how education dragged people into the quagmire of war.It uses abundant illustrations and photographs to explain the reality of the war that children were involved in. This is a work that will be passed on to future generations.

[Comments from the Editor]
War is talked about as something extraordinary, but in reality, even during a war, there must have been everyday life. Perhaps the scary thing about war is that it violates everyday life in every detail. This book depicts not only the tragic aspects of war, but also the everyday life that existed there, and this is conveyed in a keenly felt way.
