[About the Book]

A collection of poetry that quietly depicts everyday scenes reminiscent of wartime and postwar Japan, rendered in restrained, unembellished language.

The day a teacher left for the war.

A country path at dusk, filled with the scent of grass.

A canna flower discovered along an unexpected road.

Moments of ordinary time, fleeting landscapes, and emotions that never found words are woven together with calm simplicity.

Though these poems evoke scenes from Japan’s distant past, the memories and silences they carry resonate beyond culture and nationality, leaving a quiet impression on readers living in the present.

This is a collection for those who wish to savor unspoken emotions and the subtle power of language shaped by space and restraint.
