[About the Book]

—Beneath the “official history” lies a buried truth—

Completed in the 8th century, the Nihon Shoki is often regarded as Japan’s oldest official chronicle. Yet when compared with Chinese historical works such as the New Book of Tang, elements of historical revision and narrative shaping begin to emerge within its pages.

By reading Japan’s historical chronicles alongside Korean sources and Chinese records, this book uncovers the many mysteries hidden within the Nihon Shoki and probes the deeper truths of ancient history. It is a gripping and thought-provoking work that invites readers to question established historical perspectives.

An intellectual challenge that will shake conventional views of history.
