[About the Book]
“Someday, I want to set out on a journey to visit people I once knew…”
Have you perhaps tucked away such a feeling deep in your heart?
This book is both a travel memoir and a moving story, written for everyone who has ever felt the desire to seek out someone from their past.
Ten years after retirement, the author finally makes a decision:
to travel freely on his own across 31 cities in 9 countries, reconnecting with old friends and rediscovering the joy of solo travel.
The smiles found on the streets of Mexico, the aromas drifting from food stalls in Peru, the sunlight pouring over wineries in Chile—and in Brazil, more than 120 old friends and companions welcomed the author like family.
Each reunion adds color to the journey and gently illuminates the world around him.
The true joy of travel does not lie only in famous tourist attractions or luxury hotels. Encounters with people, exchanges between cultures, and unexpected acts of kindness—these are what make a journey truly special.
This book is recommended for:
・People who want to experience a journey that is uniquely their own, beyond packaged tours
・Those who dream of solo travel but have not yet taken the first step
・Readers curious about how Japanese people travel and experience the world
For all such readers, this book offers deep empathy and quiet encouragement.
Though it is the story of one man traveling the world alone, it is also a book that reminds us that we are never truly alone.
