［Author Biography］
Takaharu Izumi

Born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in 1949.
Entered the Department of Pharmacy at the China Medical University in Taichung, Taiwan, in 1967.
Studied the basics of Chinese medicine and Chinese herbal medicine, and encountered Japanese herbal medicine.
Studied in Japan in 1976.
After working as a research student at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tohoku University, he graduated from Nagasaki University School of Medicine in 1982 and obtained his medical license in Japan.
In the same year, he joined the Third Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo.
In 1988, he opened the Sai Clinic in Tsuzuki-ku (formerly Midori-ku) Yokohama.
