作品詳細

Teaching Japanese was never just a matter of giving lessons.

It was a place where people from different countries and cultures collided, struggled, and—despite everything—found ways to connect.

In a small town in Japan, a Japanese language class began. People gathered there from China, the United States, the Philippines, Peru, and beyond.

They could not understand each other’s language. Their cultures were different. Their daily lives and values did not align.

And yet, within that classroom, there was laughter, there were tears, and gradually, a genuine sense of connection was born.

Based on over twenty years of records from this Japanese language classroom, this book portrays a real-life setting where foreign residents and Japanese people lived and learned together.

Why is Japanese often described as “difficult”?

What realities do foreigners face in Japan?

What social changes can be seen from a small, local classroom?

Through actual events, the book reveals both the ideals and the realities of international exchange.

This is not merely a record of education. It is a vivid account of real international exchange, where individual lives intersect.

What does it truly mean to live together with people from different backgrounds?

This is a book for anyone who wishes to think about the future of our society.
